1.    Malbork Castle (143 591 square meters, Poland)




Located in Poland, Malbork Castle is the largest castle in the world. The castle was founded in 1274 by the Teutonic Knights who use it as their headquarters to help defeat the enemies of Poland and set up their own territory in the northern Baltic. The castle was expanded several times over the growing number of knights who were in it until eventually they moved to Konigsburg in 1466.

However, most of the parts of the castle that stands today is derived from the 17th century.
